Central Cariboo Search and Rescue member Katherine Hadden invites everyone to a recruitment drive being held Saturday

Central Cariboo Search and Rescue is hosting a recruitment drive Saturday, March 4, at the CCSAR hall.

Member Kathryn Hadden said members will be doing demonstrations and will be on hand to answer any questions.

“We will talk about the different courses that we do and the training,” she said, noting they train in swift water rescue, auto extrication, snowmobiling, ropes and more.

“I want to be a doctor and was really interested in the first aid aspects of the calls we go on,” Hadden said of why she joined in 2013.

“Now I enjoy the family aspect of the organization. We are all very close, which is interesting because there are so many different personalities.”

CCSAR meets on Thursdays s for auto ex, practicing from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and on Tuesdays for land search and rescue, practicing from 7 to 9 p.m.

Some members are part of both groups, others do just one of the aspects.

“Auto ex gets more calls than land search and rescue,” she said.

There aren’t any requirements to join except members need to take level one first aid, which they can be reimbursed for.

The event will take place at the CCSAR hall located at 1110 Mackenzie Avenue from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Anyone who is interested in joining but cannot attend the open house is asked to leave a message at the hall 250-398-5445 and someone will return the call.
