District staff completed the first draft of the 2015-2016 budget last week resulting in a deficit of approximately $500,000, reports School District 27 secretary-treasurer Kevin Futcher.
He says school district staff continue to review departmental budgets focusing on reductions outside of the classrooms.
School districts must submit their final budget by June 30 and cannot submit a deficit budget.
Futcher says the district will be faced with similar budget reductions over the next five years, at a minimum, as the approximate $4 million funding protection balance is reduced.
