School to start day early

The first official day of school for students has been changed from Wednesday, Sept. 7 to Tuesday, Sept 6.

The first official day of school for students has been changed from Wednesday, Sept. 7 to Tuesday, Sept 6.

The first day of the new school year was originally scheduled as a curriculum implementation day for teachers and administrators only.

However, given the possibility of teacher job action, superintendent of schools Diane Wright announced Friday that the implementation day will be rescheduled.

Schools will re-open for students on Tuesday, Sept. 6, for a half day — two- and one-half hour morning sessions only.

Each school will begin the day at the normally scheduled time — only the dismissal times are amended.

Buses will run following the morning session.

Sept. 7 will be a regular full day for students.
