Just an hour ago Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived in Williams Lake accompanied by a full parade down Oliver Street to Spirit Square where they will be visiting with families and greeting visitors until 4:30 p.m. this afternoon

Throngs of children lining Oliver Street waved and smiled as Santa and Mrs. Claus made their way along Oliver Street about 11:30 a.m. Saturday morning, Nov. 24 in a horse drawn wagon and accompanied by a full parade of children and colourful mascots.

The couple made their way to Spirit Square where they will be greeting children and families for an afternoon of family fun and entertainment.

The festivities in the square continue on until 4:30 p.m. Saturday with free horse-drawn wagon rides, live entertainment, carollers, games, free hot chocolate, apple cider and hamburgers.

Chilcotin Road students presented a flash mob dance in the middle of the parade and there will be all sorts of Christmas characters in the square to greet visitors from reindeer to a snowman and lots of helpful elves.

Santa's arrival coincides with the beginning of the holiday shopping season and all over town this weekend merchants are offering their famous Moon Light Magic and Black Friday specials.

It will be a busy, busy, busy weekend for intrepid shoppers with several other major craft sales also taking place this week and weekend as well.
