As road paving continues on Borland Street, the city is reminding the public about alternate access routes to the government building, the police station and businesses.
The government building can be accessed from the entrance closest to Fourth Avenue, while the police station can be accessed from the entrance closest to Seventh Avenue and from the back lane off of Seventh Avenue, opposite Save-On-Foods.
Businesses on the RCMP side of the street can be accessed via Fourth Avenue and the back lane.
The daycare, meanwhile, can be accessed from Fourth Avenue.
Peterson Contracting traffic manager and geotech Sandi Raincock said the company will be putting up new signs, which will be posted at every area where they are working, notifying people of the alternate routes.
If persons with disabilities are unsure of where to go, or need assistance, they are asked to speak to a traffic control person on site, who will do their best to accommodate and assist them.
“We will do everything to accommodate people, traffic and businesses,” Raincock said. “People with questions, come to a flagger and talk to them on site. We appreciate everyone’s patience and we’ll get through this as quickly as we can.”
Starting on Thursday or Friday, and for the next few weeks, work will shift to the Seventh Avenue side of the project.
Access to the RCMP building will remain unchanged, while access to the government building will be available from the entrance closest to Seventh Avenue.
Businesses on the south side of Borland Street will only be able to be accessed by the back lane, and signage will be put up.
