The Remembrance Day Ceremony held at Alkali Lake drew a considerable crowd to the new Cenotaph on the Esketemc First Nation Reserve which honours the seven Esk’etemc (Secwepemc) Second World War veterans (and others) who are named on the brass plate affixed to the memorial (rock) cairn.

These women were part of the large group of band members who came out to pay their respects by observing two minutes of silence, and by drumming and singing. Left to right are Bertha Robbins (Esketemc band councillor) with Isobel, Julianna and Julia Johnson. All are listening attentively.
