RCMP provide Stampede weekend stats

Staff Sgt. Del Byron provided Stampede weekend stats, saying it was a quiet weekend considering the magnitude of the event.

Williams Lake RCMP Staff Sgt. Del Byron provide statistics for the Stampede weekend, tallying calls from Friday June 26 at 7 a.m. until midnight Monday June 29.

The RCMP received 157 calls for service: June 26  - 46 calls, June 27 -  49 calls, June 28 - 40 calls and June 29 - 21 calls.

There were a total of 74 Intoxicated persons lodged in cells, many more than once, with the vast majority being  well known to the police.

A majority of the calls for service were to Boitanio Park and WL Stampede Grounds with the call usually being alcohol related.

There were a total of four break and enters related to local residences. Four vehicle crashes investigated. Six minor drug possession investigations, five auto crime related offences of which were theft of a motorcycle, pickup truck and quad/ATV and six common assault files.

"Considering the magnitude of this event it was a quiet week end," Byron said.
