A Williams Lake male and female are facing criminal charges following an RCMP vehicle stop Saturday afternoon.

A 19-year-old man remains in custody after he was arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred in the Lac La Hache area on Wednesday, March 29.

Cpl. Brian Lamb of the 100 Mile House RCMP said at approximately 11:45 p.m. Wednesday the Williams Lake RCMP were called to Cariboo Memorial Hospital after a 29-year-old-man arrived seeking treatment for a stab wound to his upper torso.

“After conducting an initial investigation, members located a 19-year-old-male suspect at a residence in Williams Lake and arrested the male without incident,” Lamb said. “Preliminary investigation conducted so far has indicated that this incident occurred earlier in the evening in the Lac La Hache area.”

Lamb said Thursday the victim was still in hospital with serious injuries. “Both males were known to each other and this was not a random incident,” Lamb said. “The male remains in custody at this time and charges are expected in this matter.”

The 100 Mile House RCMP, Williams Lake RCMP, and RCMP North District Regional General Investigation Section are currently investigating the matter. 100 Mile House RCMP are asking anyone with information regarding this incident to call 250-395-2456.
