Williams Lake RCMP confirm they are investigating a “suspicious occurrence” involving a student in the area of Skyline school Thursday.

Staff Sgt. Del Byron said the investigation involves a report from a teenager who said a male driver in a passing vehicle stopped and asked her if she wanted a ride.

A warning was circulated on social media Friday to some district parents by a local principal, describing the incident as an attempted abduction that occurred at 3 p.m. in the Skyline/Marie Sharpe Elementary School area. He described the vehicle as a smaller four-door truck, orange or yellow in colour.

Byron said there is no indication at this point that anyone was trying to abduct the teen.

If anyone has information regarding the incident, they are asked to contact the RCMP detachment.
