RCMP are investigating after a man who was lying on the ground was run over by a truck in Williams Lake Tuesday.

A 61-year-old man was taken to Cariboo Memorial Hospital with serious injuries Tuesday after he was run over by a Ford F150 pickup truck in Williams Lake.

Cpl. Madonna Saunderson, district advisory NCO media relations, said the victim was lying on the ground near the passenger side of the truck when he was run over.

“The truck was on the property of a local business when a 26-year-old employee needed to move the vehicle,” Saunderson said, noting there were no signs of impairment on the part of the driver and the victim was not an employee of the business.

The Williams Lake RCMP responded to the incident in the 700 block of Oliver Street above the Stampede Grounds at 4:36 p.m.

Police continue to investigate and are asking anyone who may have information on the incident to contact the RCMP at 250-392-6211.
