Presentation to address questions about Mount Polley tailings

Dr. Lyn Anglin, P.Geo., chief scientific officer with Imperial Metals will give a presentation on Mount Polley's tailings next week.

What's in the Mount Polley Mine tailings?

That is one of the most frequently asked questions about the Mount Polley Mine tailings spill.

Dr. Lyn Anglin, P.Geo., chief scientific officer with Imperial Metals will give a presentation on Mount Polley's tailings at a meeting to be held at the Scout Island Nature Centre starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 17.

She will provide an overview of the geology, mineralogy and geochemistry of the tailings and how they are produced.

She will also present results of some recent laboratory research on the geochemical stability of the spilled tailings.

This presentation is hosted by the Scout Island Nature Centre and Williams Lake Field Naturalists and will answer the questions: what are tailings, where do they come from and what are they made of?
