Prescribed burns completed at Chimney Lake area

Crews completed a series of controlled burns at  Chimney and Felker Lake on Wednesday, March 18.

"We succeeded our expectations yesterday and fully completed the project," communications specialist Emily Koch told the Tribune Thursday. "So we have achieved our goal of reducing the fire hazard around the rec sites and Recreation Sites and Trails BC was very happy with the result."

On Tuesday, the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations announced a series of controlled burns near Chimney Lake and Felker Lake would run from March 17 to April 10, 2015, weather conditions permitting.

The burns were conducted with the assistance of Wildfire Management Branch staff from the Cariboo Fire Centre.
