Under the watchful eye of area geese, a crew works to perform cone penetration and field vane shear strength tests of sub-grade soil conditions below an existing storm water detention pond near the Highway 20 bridge at Scout Island.

The preliminary testing is being done to determine whether the area can hold higher volumes of storm water.
