A preliminary inquiry into an attempted bank robbery at the CIBC in November 2017 got underway last Friday in Williams Lake Provincial Court.
Christopher Michael Swain faces one charge of robbery and one charge of wearing a disguise with intent to commit an offence in relation to an incident that took place the afternoon of Nov. 28 at the CIBC on Oliver Street in Williams Lake.
It is expected that six witnesses will testify for the case.
Originally one day was scheduled for the inquiry, however, due to a late start on Friday, only some of the witnesses took the stand.
As a result, Justice Elizabeth Bayliff adjourned the inquiry until Oct. 10 to fix a date for the inquiry to continue.
There is a publication ban on any of the evidence presented during the inquiry.

In December 2017, two local men were recognized as heroes by the City and RCMP for detaining a robbery suspect during the attempted robbery.
At the time, RCMP Insp. Jeff Pelley said Bill Drebit and Blaine Grinder’s actions demonstrated great bravery and perseverance in apprehending the offender.
“This was the second bank robbery within 11 days in Williams Lake and the suspect was still at large, his identity being unknown,” Pelley told the men. “You and your counterpart here were able to successfully hold the resisting suspect against his will until the arrival of the police.”
At the time of his arrest Swain was identified by the RCMP as a 100 Mile House resident.
He remains in custody.
