Power outages affect about 1,000 Cariboo residents

Wind gusts of up to 65 kilometres an hour have caused power outages in and around Williams Lake, affecting about 1,000 customers.

The first outage occurred at 11:25 a.m. Monday morning in the 10,000 block of Highway 97. Other areas affected were the 2600 block of Selkirk Road, where trees were down across hydro wires, and the 600 block of Carson Drive, the 200 Block of Westcoast Road, the 4300 block of Jessalee Road, the 1400 block of Felker Road, the 1200-1300 blocks of Triumph Road, the 2200 block Doyle Road, the 3500 block of Valley Road, the 3800 block of Knife Creek Road, and east of Likely Road, where an estimated 875 customers are without power.
