Pop bottles explode in yards

The Williams Lake RCMP is warning the public to be cautious after three recent incidents of explosive pop bottles in the community and 150 Mile House.

The Williams Lake RCMP is warning the public to be cautious after three recent incidents of explosive pop bottles in the community and 150 Mile House.

In the most recent incident, on Sunday, June 19 at approximately 9:30 p.m., a 150 Mile House home owner heard a loud bang in the front yard. The next morning the owner recovered two suspicious pop bottles from the yard. One of them was melted as a result of an explosion. This was the third incident in several weeks and in all three cases the RCMP reports a pop bottle appears to have been used to construct the device.

The RCMP advises the public if they spot similar devices or any other suspicious package not to handle or disturb it and to keep away from it and to contact the RCMP immediately. Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact the Williams Lake RCMP or Crimestoppers.
