Police and fire crews responded to two fires in the lakecity Friday evening.

According to Staff Sgt. Del Byron of the Williams Lake RCMP, police were called to assist members of the Williams Lake Fire Department on a fire call at 665 Borland Street at about 8:35 p.m.

Upon arrival officers learned a cardboard box and a stroller were set on fire in the hallway of the apartment building, but quickly thrown outside by a person who discovered the fire.

No one was injured and the matter remains under investigation.

A short time later, at approximately 9 p.m., police and fire crews were called to a vehicle on fire parked in the service lot of Lake City Ford on Oliver Street.

Byron said a grey 2005 Honda CRV received extensive damage due to the fire.

Police are investigating the incident.
