The Salvation Army food bank will be serving pizza now and then thanks to a generous donation from Domino's Pizza in Williams Lake.
On Friday, food bank co-ordinator Sabrina Silvey accepted a dozen large pizzas from Domino's general manager Francis David for lunch at the Salvation Army soup kitchen on Borland Street.
David, who has been manager of the Williams Lake pizza outlet since April 1, 2013, said he plans to donate the pizzas once a month.
"My boss resides in Surrey, but he's given me full reins to do this," David smiled as he stacked the pizzas on the counter in the Salvation Army Hall where breakfast and lunch is served Monday to Fridays.
As the lineup of people waiting for lunch grew all the way back to the entrance of the building David agreed to stay behind to help Silvey and soup kitchen helper Tracy Mycock serve the pizzas, alongside soup and buns.
"This is so great," Silvey told David, to which he replied, "no problem."
Silvey said the soup kitchen is serving about 1,500 meals a month or 75 a day.
