Dwayne Davis works on the window at the Williams Lake Tribune. His team - made up of himself and his son, work on as many as three locations per day, painting storefront windows in time for Stampede. “I try to do ever one differently and special to the place,” says Davis.

The 92nd Williams Lake Stampede is just around the corner.

From city staff watering the flowers and trimming the grass to volunteers taking part in work bees every Monday night at the Stampede Grounds and local artist Dwayne Davis dressing up business windows, everyone’s getting ready to host the biggest event of the year.

Family Day and opening day of the first Williams Lake Stampede rodeo performance is Friday, June 29.

There will be two rodeos on Friday; the first at 12:45 p.m. and the second at 6:45 p.m.

For the Friday evening performance everyone is encouraged to wear red to honour the Canadian Military.

Friday evening will also see the crowning of the new Stampede Queen and Princess as well as the Grand Entry of the Xeni Gwet’in Youth Wagon Trip.

Tough Enough to Wear Pink is the theme for Sunday’s rodeo while Monday will wrap up with the fifth and final rodeo. Both Sunday and Monday rodeos will kick off at 12:45 p.m.

Tickets for the rodeo are available at the Stampede office behind the grandstand or online.
