Office Hours begins its run Wednesday

The Studio Theatre production of Office Hours starting its two-week run this Wednesday evening.

The Studio Theatre production of Office Hours starting its two-week run this Wednesday evening is actually six one-act plays in one – six comedies to make you giggle.

Directed by the team of Mary-Jo Hilyer and Micheal Hodgson, Office Hours is written by one of Canada’s most popular and funny playwrights, Norm Foster.

What does an overweight jockey, a desperate movie producer, a gay entertainment lawyer, a philandering agent and a Week-at-a-Glance salesman have in common?

Ordinarily not a whole lot, but when Foster puts them together the comedic outcome is a collection of short plays filled with snappy dialogue, witty repartee, and hilarious predicaments.

The Studio Theatre production stars a large cast of veteran local actors and many newcomers to the lakecity theatre scene, and at least one newcomer to the community.

“We tried to encorporate as many new people into the production as possible,” Hilyer says.

The cast includes Terra McGuire as Francine Majors and Sam Thurber; Therisa Peimer as Pam Gerard, Ellie Young, and Sharon Freeman; Tony Savile as Lloyd Penny; Shane Tollefson as Mark Young and Artie Barnes; Dexter Giesbrecht as the one armed man, Gordon Blaine; and Richard/Neil Penny; Harry Jennings as Warren Kimble, Bobby Holland, and a man; and Merla Monroe as Rhonda Penny.

Office Hours runs Nov. 16 to 19 and Nov. 23 to 26.
