Odd red lights reported flying over Williams Lake Thursday night

Did anyone else happen to see two large round red lights move silently over Williams Lake Thursday evening?

Did anyone else happen to see two large round red lights move silently over Williams Lake Thursday evening?

One couple who saw them is surprised that no one else has reported on Facebook having seen the odd lights.

Mary Jane Engstrom, said she and her husband, Fred, were looking out over the city from their home on Ridgeview Place about 8:35 p.m. when they saw two red/amber lights fly from the west over the city, then disappear behind Fox Mountain.

"I wouldn't have thought anything of it but we both saw them," Engstrom said.

She said they estimate the lights to be the size of a helicopter cab but there was no sound with them.

She said the lights were travelling about a mile apart at an elevation of about 1,500 feet with one light travelling slightly ahead of the other.

She said the lights took three to four minutes to move over the city.

She said they estimate the lights were moving too slowly for a plane and helicopters wouldn't be flying at night.
