Over the past week members of Williams Lake RCMP detachment have responded to more than 15 incidents of thefts from vehicles.

Some arrests have been made by police over the past few days. However this is a trend that seems to be escalating, police say.

Youth are suspected of being involved in the vast majority of these types of thefts.

Most of these thefts are occurring during the night and being discovered by the owners the following morning.

Owners of vehicles are cautioned not to leave valuables in sight within their vehicles as these are the types of vehicles that are easily targeted by thieves.

The RCMP encourage anyone who sees any suspicious activity around their vehicles or property to contact the RCMP immediately.

The RCMP are further cautioning people to be aware that residential breaks ins and thefts continue to be reported to the Williams Lake detachment and once again the RCMP recommends contacting the detachment immediately when any suspicious activity is observed.
