No recommendations follow City of Williams Lake's audited financial statements

Williams Lake city council accepted its 2011 audited financial statements at its Tuesday regular council meeting.

Williams Lake city council accepted its 2011 audited financial statements as presented by PMT Chartered Accountants at its Tuesday regular council meeting.

In his report, accountant J. Roger Solley told council there were no new issues identified during the current year that required recommendations, and that all of the prior year's recommendations have been addressed.

Coun. Surinderpal Rathor said in the 18 years he has been on council this was the first year he has seen no recommendations.

"This tells me two stories. Either Mr. Solley has run out of recommendations or his recommendations were taken very seriously, that he has done his job and staff has done excellent work," Rathor said, adding it does not mean there aren't existing inefficiencies, but that he thinks the city has come a long way.

Council passed a motion to appoint PMT as its auditor for next year so the city can continue to further the discussions it's been having with it.

Additionally council passed a motion instructing staff to report on a test of market value for audits for future years.
