A wildfire seven kilometres southwest of the community of Anahim Lake and Ulkatcho First Nation in the west-Chilcotin is now an estimated 86 hectares.
The Pelican Lake wildfire is currently classified as out of control and is suspected to be human-caused.
It was discovered on May 17 just after 2:20 p.m. and no structures are currently at risk.
Cariboo Fire Centre reports there are 55 personnel on site, along with two helicopters and airtankers are also working the fire.
While the Cariboo Fire Centre reports fire behaviour this morning has been minimal and winds are light, fire activity may increase as temperatures rise through the day.
Crews are working to establish a hose lay on the east flank at this time and helicopters are bucketing hot spots
Between the fire and both the community of Anahim Lake and neighbouring Ulkatcho First Nation there is a fuel management treatment area which could help slow the spread of the fire in that direction.
