New wildfire burning near Big Creek

The BC Wildfire Service is currently responding to a new wildfire in the Cariboo Fire Centre.

The BC Wildfire Service is currently responding to a new wildfire in the Cariboo Fire Centre about 10 kilometres west of the rural community of Big Creek, which is about 90 kilometres southwest of Williams Lake.

Smoke may be visible from nearby areas. The wildfire was discovered early Tuesday morning and is estimated at nine hectares in size.

There is no threat to structures in the area at this time.Airtankers are responding to the wildfire in support of 26 firefighters, five pieces of heavy equipment and two helicopters on site.
