Name released after fatal collision

The Williams Lake RCMP have released the name of the man killed in a motor vehicle collision on Highway 97 north of Williams Lake Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Louis George Therrien, age 36, of Terrace, B.C.

Police and the regional coroner are continuing their investigation into collision that took place near the Macalister overpass at about 7:30 a.m.

Therrien was a passenger in a southbound pickup, which was involved in a head-on collision with a northbound semi truck and trailer. Therrien had to be extracted from his vehicle by the jaws of life.

He was removed from the scene by B.C. Ambulance and died a short time later at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in this incident. All the other people involved had minor or no injuries.
