Conservative MP Todd Doherty's private members bill — An Act Respecting a Federal Framework on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder — will be debated Monday, March 6, in Ottawa.
Doherty was in Williams Lake Friday meeting with the Cariboo Regional District board at its regular meeting and said of the five private member bills he has put forward, Bill C-211 continues to be number one for him.
"There is no federal legislation in place right now for people with PTSD," Doherty told the board.

As part of the Conservative's Softwood Lumber committee, Doherty said every day without an agreement in place, is a bad thing for the region.
"We know full well the U.S. needs our softwood and we should be negotiating from a strong position," he said. "Hopefully there will be a concerted effort to get an agreement in place,"
Doherty said once the federal budget is released he plans to hold round-table discussions throughout the region to have as many voices at the table as possible.
"One of the key things is funding for rural policing. It's a problem we are facing in Prince George as well," he said. "I don't think any resident of any community should be afraid for their safety."
