A man and woman remain in custody following a stabbing at a motel in Williams Lake Wednesday (May 17) that saw police block off streets around a house in Glendale where the suspects were arrested.

Williams Lake RCMP released more information Thursday night regarding the incident.

“On Wednesday, May 17, 2023 shortly before 5 p.m., the Williams Lake RCMP were called to a motel on 7th Ave in the city where it was reported that a person had been stabbed multiple times. BC EHS was on scene providing medical treatment and alerted the police,” noted RCMP in a news release.

“Police immediately attended and quickly identified two possible suspects and went to a home on 2nd Ave where it was believed both suspects had fled following the assault.”

Mounties said they called for the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Police Dog Services (PDS) due to the seriousness of the assault and evidence observed at and in the area of the home. For the safety of everyone, police also closed several streets in the area to all traffic.

After several hours, two people, and adult man and an adult woman, were arrested without further incident. They remain in custody pending a court appearance Thursday May 18, 2023 in Williams Lake.

The victim was taken to hospital by EHS where it has been reported he is stable condition and expected to recover, said police.
