Mount Polley Mine staff will meet with residents in Likely tonight, not Tuesday as reported earlier.

The meeting will take place Monday, Aug. 24 in the Likely community hall starting at 7 p.m.

“We will be discussing our short-term water management plan that will detail how the mine plans to discharge contact water during the restricted operation period,” said Steve Robertson, vice-president of corporate affairs for Imperial Metals.

Government representatives have been invited to attend the meetings, he added.

Since the mine resumed operations on Aug. 4, 186 people have been employed at the site.

Robertson said the mill is running at full capacity 24/7 every second week to meet the restricted permit’s parameters.

Other community meetings will take place Wednesday Aug. 26 in Williams Lake at the Cariboo Memorial Complex Gibraltar Room at 7 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 27 in Quesnel  at the Royal Canadian Legion at 7 p.m.

Mine staff will also meet at Xat’sull during the week with local First Nations.
