The Tribune asked candidates running in the municipal, regional, and School District 27 election a few questions about themselves and their platforms.
We asked the following:
• What position are you running for?
• Why are you running for it?
• What do you see as the top three issues to address in your community?
• How do you propose to tackle them?
Candidates in the area, including those who have been acclaimed, were invited to participate for free
and were given a maximum word limit of 275 words to answer the questions above.
The following are the answers we received from participating candidates:
Mike Jacobson
1. City council.
2. I look forward to serving our community to make decisions that improve opportunities for families. To continue to build our community we need families to have secure employment and grow with our community. As a member of council I will work with business and local government to make sure opportunities are realized.

4. a) Williams Lake is well positioned for growth resulting in employment. Housing as an example, both multifamily combined with retail in our downtown core as well as opening up new areas for construction of family homes. We have developers in our community who are able to deliver a quality product combined with our Cariboo lifestyle that, as the Lower Mainland grows, will show our community as a very attractive place to live and invest. I will draw from experience developing projects to work with business and government to ensure opportunities are realized based on sound financial decisions. b) The Cariboo Memorial Complex is an excellent example for services required by families in our community. You only need to walk through this complex to see the impact on families and our youth. We need to find solutions that secure facilities like the Memorial Complex for our community’s future. I will work to deliver solutions that our community can afford; family’s deserve, and attract new families to our community. c) Seniors are the pioneers of our community. I look forward to working with council to not just talk about, but build the facilities required to keep our seniors in the community who they have worked, raised families and invested in.
