Machetes, bear spray used in Williams Lake fracas

Williams Lake RCMP respond to street fight involving machetes and bear spray Thursday.

Williams Lake RCMP responded to a street fight Thursday night.

Shortly after 9 p.m. Oct. 11, police arrived at the 1100 block of 2nd Avenue North after receiving complaints. When they got there, police couldn't find the melee; however a few pedestrians were located in the area.

Police confirmed through witnesses that several people had been involved in a fight where machetes and bear spray were used.

Two combatants were later located at Cariboo Memorial Hospital with related injuries. They were uncooperative and did not disclose any information, police said.

The individuals are well known to police, who said the attack appears to be mutually agreed upon.RCMP are still investigating. If anyone has information regarding this incident, they are encouraged to call the Williams Lake RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
