Likely resident meet today to discuss mine spill

A community meeting will be held in the Likely Community Hall at 4 p.m. today to discuss the Mount Polley Mine tailings pond breach.

Likely residents will hold a community meeting in the Likely Community Hall at 4 p.m. today to discuss implications of the tailings pond breach that happened at Mount Polley Mine Monday morning.

MLAs Coralee Oakes and Donna Barnett are expected to be there for the meeting.

Residents are also looking at the massive debris field of logs coming into Quesnel Lake and are worried the debris could take out the Likely Bridge.

Many of the local residents, who have worked in the logging and forest industries for years, are also assessing the situation to see if there might be a way to contain the logs so they don't take out the bridge.
