Job action continues

School District 27 trustee Pete Penner was tight lipped about discussions around the B.C. Public School Employers Association table last week regarding B.C. teachers job action.

“I’m not allowed to tell you what was decided,” Penner said in an interview Tuesday.

“All I can tell you is there were 49 boards out of 60 represented there and they had very frank discussions and they are fully supporting BCPSEA in the negotiations.”

Penner was the only trustee from the local school board attending last Monday’s meeting to determine a way forward for the employer of B.C. public school teachers. He’s not on the employer’s bargaining committee. Penner described the meeting as giving direction to the committee and showing it support.

Teachers across the province have been undertaking job action in order to have their contract demands met since September.
