The City of Williams Lake has hired RCMP Insp. Milo MacDonald as the city's new chief administrative officer.

MacDonald will start the position on Sept. 12, 2016.

MacDonald has had a very successful career with the RCMP over the last 20 years, Mayor Walt Cobb said.

"The city is fortunate to welcome Milo as chief administrative officer for the city," Cobb added. "Council and staff have had the privilege of working with Milo directly during his tenure at the RCMP, and have been impressed with his experience, knowledge and professionalism."

MacDonald said he was honoured to be selected as the CAO.

"I am very excited about the direction we are headed in and am looking forward to working with council and the staff," MacDonald said.

Coun. Scott Nelson said the city is very pleased with the stability and qualities MacDonald possesses as well as his knowledge and already established network within the region.

MacDonald worked in Williams Lake with the RCMP from 1996 to 2000, and returned to be the inspector in July of 2015.

He replaces former CAO Darrell Garceau who resigned in February of this year.
