Heavy snow causes several power outages and bus cancellations

Hundreds of customers are without hydro in and around Williams Lake after a heavy snowfall hit the region.

Hundreds of people are without power in and around Williams Lake after the area received a heavy snowfall Wednesday and Thursday.

By Thursday morning BC Hydro had restored power to hundreds of customers, but reported on its website that around 300 remained without power.

School District 27 cancelled buses in Williams Lake, 150 Mile House and Wildwood due to icy road conditions.

"At this point no schools have been closed today," Supt. Mark Thiessen told the Tribune.

BC Hydro is working to restore power, however, some estimated times are well into the day, some as late as 6 p.m.
