Former Quesnel man accused of killing wife and kids gets Oct. 10 pre-trial date

The former Quesnel man charged with killing his wife and two daughters days before Christmas 2017 appeared via video in a Kelowna courtroom Monday morning to schedule a pre-trial conference.

The process was thwarted the first time around when Jacob Forman wanted to change his legal counsel.

Last month, Forman’s new lawyer Ray Dieno asked the court to put the case over four weeks as he reviews the disclosure in the case.

A pre-trial conference is required before setting longer trials and Dieno said the trial “wouldn’t be any less than four to six weeks.”

Forman is charged with second degree murder in the death of his wife, Clara Soledad Forman, and first degree murder in the deaths of his young daughters, Karina and Yesenia.

Their bodies were discovered at their Rutland home on Dec. 19, 2017. It is alleged they were killed sometime between Dec. 17 and Dec. 19. No other details have been released.

The pre-trial conference will be held Oct. 10.

Forman has no previous criminal record in B.C. A plumber, he was raised in Quesnel and social media indicates he may have lived in Vernon.
