Firefighters are in the process of fighting a small forest fire in the area of Bond Lake off Dog Creek Road in the area of the Williams Lake Sportsmen’s Association Rod and Gun Club.
A-three person crew, a helicopter and air tankers initially responded to the fire that was discovered about 1 p.m., says Jenny Fremlin, Cariboo Fire Centre information officer.
“An additional 15 firefighters are also on route to the fire,” Fremlin says.
She says the fire is estimated to be just under half a hectare in size and is a low vigor surface fire, which means it hasn’t yet started candling into the tree canopy.
She says structures are not immediately threatened at this time. However, there are structures within 500 metres of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
