One home was destroyed and two others damaged, but no lives were lost during a fire that ripped through Green Acres Mobile Home Park Friday morning.
Jack Hilton said he was still asleep when his wife Carol woke him up.
"I was in bed," Hilton said as he watched firefighters tackle the blaze.
"I couldn't figure out what they were all screaming about so I got up and then all I could see was a wall of smoke."
Hilton said there was barely a way to get out of the bedroom, let alone the front door as the fire quickly spread.
"We went out the front window."
Hilton said he lost everything in the blaze, and was most upset about losing pictures of his grandsons playing hockey. Then he quickly remembered their hockey gear was inside as well.
"I'm so mad."
Lynn Geier, a longtime friend and neighbour who called 9-1-1 when she saw the fire at about 9 a.m., comforted Hilton at the scene.
"I'm just sick about it. What a dreadful, dreadful loss for Jack," said Geier.
Hilton believes an electric heater in the shed may have been the cause of the fire.
Two other homes were damaged as the fire spread between the closely placed homes.
"As long as it doesn't wreck my pictures nothing else matters," said the woman of the other home.
The blaze prompted a swift response from the Williams Lake Fire Department, BC Hydro and RCMP.
"With the second home we were able to contain the fire to the back bedroom," said Deputy Fire Chief Rob Warnock, noting some of the skirting on a third trailer was damaged from the heat of the blaze.
Within three hours of arriving to attend the fire, crews were in the clean up stage.
