Fire destroys detached garage

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Wolf Street Monday evening.

The Williams Lake Fire Department responded to a structure fire around 9 p.m. on Wolf Street Monday evening.

“It was a detached garage that was fully involved upon our arrival,” Fire Chief Des Webster said Tuesday. “The homeowners were home and tried to extinguish the fire but could not.”

The fire department responded with three pieces of apparatus and 18 firefighters, calling in the Wildwood Volunteer Fire Department for mutual aid to provide additional water.

The building was completely destroyed, along with several ATVs and tools that were inside, the RCMP said.

The WLFD spent two hours battling the blaze.
