Fire at power plant

The Williams Lake Fire Department received a report of a fire at the Williams Lake Power Plant at about 5:30 p.m. Monday.

“They had a small fire in one of their buildings, the ash dump building,” says Williams Lake fire chief Randy Isfeld.

Members from the fire department were there for about an hour to an hour and a half.

What caused the fire or the extent of the damages aren’t yet known, he says, but suspects damage was minimal — at the worst a couple thousand dollars.

“I’m not saying it was insignificant, and it was difficult to get at and hard to put out,” he says.

A ladder truck, two fire engines, and a first responder attended. About 20 personnel responded, though 15 attended the actual fire.
