Finning strike ends

The Finning contract has been ratified, ending a five-week strike at 25 Finning locations in B.C., including Williams Lake.

The Finning contract has been ratified, ending a five-week strike at 25 Finning locations in B.C., including Williams Lake.

Machinist Union members voted 74 per cent in favour of a new collective agreement at Finning, the union said Friday.

According to the union, journeyperson wages will increase by $5.28 per hour over the life of the agreement, with the first four-per cent wage increase retroactive to April 15, 2011.

Among other things, the new agreement also includes annual three to four per cent wages increases and new language on working statutory holidays.
