A tree fell on a hydro line Thursday afternoon causing a grass fire alongside Highway 20 west of Williams Lake.

A tree fell on a hydro line Thursday afternoon causing a grass fire alongside Highway 20 west of the Welcome to Williams Lake sign.

A witness at the scene said he saw the tree fall on the hydro line just after 3 p.m. and that there was a big flash and the fire started.

The fire caused a power outage, impacting 212 customers.

Crews from the Williams Lake Fire Dept., BC Hydro, along with the Williams Lake RCMP and the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure attended the scene.
