Update: Environment Canada tracking thunderstorms in Cariboo

The storm warning was upgraded from a watch Friday afternoon

Update: The storm warning has been downgraded to a watch at 1:40 p.m.

At 1:05 p.m. Environment Canada meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, pea to dime size hail and heavy rain in the Cariboo east of Williams Lake.

This storm is 60km northeast of Williams Lake and is moving east at 60 km/h towards Quesnel Lake, Horsefly Lake and Black Creek.

Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles, said Environment Canada.
