Doherty Conservative's official Asia-Pacific Gateway critic

Cariboo-Prince George Conservative MP Todd Doherty is the Conservative's official critic on the Asia-Pacific Gateway.

Cariboo Prince George Conservative MP Todd Doherty has been appointed official critic for the Asia-Pacific Gateway and deputy critic for Indigenous Affairs.

Interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose announced the appointments Friday, including her own as the critic for the status of women.

"These are very important roles within our province, region and Western Canada," Doherty said from Prince George. "I'm looking forward to bringing my background, my experience, and not only that the contacts that we have, to these roles."

Doherty he is excited to be part of the Conservative team, and a new voice moving forward.

"If you see the team that's been announced and what we're doing it's very exciting and I am looking forward to having an impact on both of the files."

Doherty was officially sworn in as MP on Nov. 12 in Ottawa, an event he said was an historical moment for his family.

The Kaufman family from Soda Creek Corn happened to be on family vacation in Ottawa and joined him for the ceremony, he added.
