Credit Union gives $25K to local groups

Local community groups have received $25,000 from the Williams Lake and District Credit Union.

Local community groups have received $25,000 from the Williams Lake and District Credit Union.

The funding, which specifically comes from the credit union’s community investment fund, benefit the following organizations:

Williams Lake Restorative Justice Committee; Williams Lake Food Policy Council; West Chilcotin Search and Rescue; Cariboo-Chilcotin Partners for Literacy; Bella Coola Valley Arts Council; Cariboo-Chilcotin Youth Fiddle Society; Chilcotin 4-H Club; Kokoro Judo Association; Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Williams Lake; Hun City Mountain Bike Club; Watch Lake-Green Lake Community Association; 100 Mile Elementary School PAC; and Lone Butte Historical Association.

The investment fund was established in 2008 and supports local non-profit organizations and community groups with projects and initiatives that contribute to economic revitalization and improved quality of of life.

Grants are distributed twice a year and are intended to provide assistance with community projects, community planning, organizational development and community learning.

The Williams Lake and District Credit Union also supports the local community with financial and in-kind assistance to local non-profit organizations, and bursary awards to deserving local students.
