CRD launches facebook page

After adopting a social media policy in June, the Cariboo Regional District is now poised to launch its new facebook page.

The facebook page will be used primarily for informing residents about upcoming CRD events, meetings and projects, while providing another tool for residents to communicate with the CRD.

In June, the board of directors adopted a social media policy, which specifically outlines how social media will be incorporated into its existing communications tool box.

“This is a powerful communications tool that will dovetail nicely into our existing communications program,” says CRD communications chair Steve Mazur. “We are excited about the opportunities social media presents to connect with more of our residents in order to continue building communities together.”

This is the regional district’s second foray into social media after using it extensively throughout the fire storms of 2010.

The CRD says that with the overwhelming success and reception of the Emergency Operation Centre’s facebook page (www.facebook.com/CRDEmergencyOperations), the CRD will continue to maintain this site as well as the main CRD facebook page.
