CRD examines recycling options

Multi-Material BC representatives gave the Cariboo Regional District board a presentation on the new recycling program in the province.

Multi-Material BC representatives gave the Cariboo Regional District board a presentation on the new recycling program in the province during their regular meeting in Williams Lake, Friday, Aug. 23. MMBC managing director Allen Langdon and project director Glenda Gies gave the presentation, reports Shelly Burich, CRD communications manager.

Landon provided an overview of the program, incentives and benefits to local governments participating in the program, and the types of materials collected through the packaging and printed paper (PPP) program.

Multi-Material British Columbia (MMBC) is a not-for-profit agency established under the British Columbia Society Act in April 2013 and received approval of the PPP Stewardship Plan from B.C.’s Ministry of Environment.  MMBC was formed to develop a stewardship plan for packaging and printed paper to meet the requirements of the provincial recycling regulations.
