A couple driving a stolen truck and travel trailer were caught with what police say was a "significant amount" of various drugs on Thursday.

A news release from the RCMP says 100 Mile House Traffic Services observed a black Ford F 350 pickup truck with a male driver and female passenger travelling northbound on Highway 97 near Lac La Hache.

The truck was towing a travel trailer, which appeared to have a green licence decal indicating the insurance was expired.

The vehicles were checked in Lac La Hache and police determined they both were stolen.

The driver and female were on probation, and a significant amount of cannabis, cocaine, heroin, and crystal meth were found.

Police say the driver initially provided a false name and false information on the truck and trailer.

A drug recognition expert conducted a test and found the driver to be impaired.

Both individuals are in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
