Williams Lake council highlights from its Jan. 28 regular meeting.

2014 NDIT Facade Program Grant

Application

Council supported an application to the Northern Development Initiative Trust Façade Improvement Program and, if the grant application is approved, the program will be implemented. The Northern Development Initiative Trust Business Façade Improvement Program provides annual grant funding for municipalities and regional districts located within their operating area through various programs.

The façade program makes available, through application, funding of up to $20,000 to enhance economic development by encouraging private sector investment in businesses façade improvements.

The program may grant funding amounts up to 50 per cent of the total the total cost of eligible improvements, to a maximum of $5,000 per application.

Cariboo Regional District - Landfill Site

Lease Second Term Renewal Agreement

Council approved the second Lease Renewal Agreement for the Lease over a portion of land at the Williams Lake transfer station site, between the City of Williams Lake and the Cariboo Regional District for a further five year term effective January 1, 2014 to December 31, 2018.

Bus Shelter Maintenance & Advertising

Council accepted the proposal from Tell Tale Signs for the provision of Bus Shelter Maintenance and Advertising for a three-year term.

The City currently has 21 bus shelters located throughout Williams Lake. Each bus shelter has

a 47” x 64” double display case for advertising, as well as advertising space in shelter gables. As the bus shelters are very publicly visible, it is important that the shelters be well maintained and clean at all times.

There should be no cost to the City for bus shelter maintenance, as maintenance costs would be covered by the contractor’s advertising income.
