Weather permitting, the Williams Lake Fire Department will have a controlled burn between Carson Drive and Sixth Avenue near Williams Lake Secondary School between 6 and 9 p.m. April 19.
The burn will remove long grasses that represent a potential fire hazard and will also serve as a training session for firefighters. The burn will produce smoke, and residents in the area are asked to take any necessary action to prevent smoke from entering residences.
Controlled burns for fuel mitigation are also planned for Boitanio Park near Eighth Avenue and near the Stampede grounds in the coming weeks. The dates and times of those events will be announced beforehand. Residents can call the Williams Lake Fire Department at 250-392-4321 for more information.
